Quantitative Portfolio Manager

As a Quantitative Portfolio Manager at Nitor Energy, you will play a key role in an established commodity trading desk and contribute to our common goal – always being the best at what we do. The role will focus on driving commercial activities across our gas portfolio, including optimization of gas storage and transportation capacity, as well as advanced storage modelling to maximize portfolio value and flexibility. In addition, you will help drive the implementation of AI-driven tools and processes to improve analytics and operational efficiency across our gas portfolio functions.

You will join a highly specialized and collaborative team working closely across trading, analytics, and commercial decision-making. In this role, you will gain hands-on responsibility from day one and work close to both the market and strategic decisions, with direct impact on portfolio performance and daily operations.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong quantitative and analytical mindset who is eager to apply their skills in a commercial and fast-moving environment. You may currently be finalizing your master’s degree, have recently graduated, or already gained up to two years of relevant experience within areas such as energy, trading, analytics, quantitative finance, mathematics, economics, engineering, or similar fields.

Prior experience in the energy industry is not required – we are ready to teach you everything you need to know and support your development. However, being analytical, data-driven, and quick on your feet is essential to succeed in this role.

Your responsibilities will include

• Trading European gas like a strategy game, where every decision counts
• Analyzing real-time market data to spot opportunities and make winning trades. Think of it as solving a puzzle where the pieces keep moving
• Focus on advanced storage modelling to maximize portfolio value
• Implementing AI-driven tools and processes to improve analytics and operational efficiency
• Make investment decisions into long term capacities and storages
• Participate in building and managing our storage portfolio
• Developing and executing trading strategies in a fast-paced, competitive environment
• Managing risk and reward
• Keeping an eye on market trends, news, and data to stay ahead of the competition
• Balancing quick ad hoc tasks with bigger quantitative projects, all aimed at improving your trading performance
• Collaborating with your team to refine strategies and share insights

What we’re looking for

• You are currently finalizing your master’s degree in Math-economics, mathematics, physics or a similar quantitative field – or have up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• You are a true team player with a positive mindset.
• You hold strong commercial, quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• You have an executing mindset and are confident in making quick decisions both independently and as part of a team
• You have a winning mentality and are willing to go the extra mile to challenge the status quo
• You thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, and where your team members are always tossing you the ball – so you must be ready to catch it!
